Oldest Horse Farm in the Area!

Roger Brown (left) and Jerry Cerasini (below left) live on a small farm in Alpharetta, Georgia. Roger has owned the property for 41 years, and they have been breeding, raising and showing horses and ponies and dachshunds for several years now. In the most general of terms, Roger is the “horse person” and Jerry is the “dog person,” but they both are involved in both sports to some extent.

Roger has been extremely involved with horses since a very young age. He teaches lessons almost every day, takes students to shows, both local and “A” rated shows, trains horses, breeds occasionally, and judges some local shows. Brownwood Farm also puts on eleven local, Georgia Hunter Jumper Association rated horse shows a year, as well as manages one benefit show for St David’s Men’s Club.

Roger is a member of the United States Equestrian Federation and a lifetime member of the Georgia Hunter Jumper Association, where he serves on the Board of Directors. They are both members of the Atlanta Kennel Club, where Jerry serves on the Board of Directors. Both of them belong to the Dachshund Club of Metropolitan Atlanta, Cumberland Valley Dachshund Club, Dachshund Club of America, and the North Georgia Hound Association. They are very active and have held various offices in these clubs.

If you are interested in purchasing a dog or a horse or in pursuing horseback riding lessons, they encourage you to visit us at the farm. Please contact them to arrange an appointment.

Horses
The horse program at Brownwood Farm is all about learning every aspect of horsemanship. You can also have Brownwood Farm prepare you for the show ring. Roger has been teaching students to ride for over 40 years. If you don't have a horse, Brownwood Farm has several safe school horses that students use. The horse you use will match your riding level and skill. Many students have gone on to become everything from professional horsemen to veterinarians and many other positions in the animal husbandry field.

Dachshunds
Since 2002 Brownwood Farm has been breeding and showing both miniature wirehaired and standard smooth dachshunds, and enjoying that activity tremendously. They breed to produce a better dachshund and to have dogs to exhibit in the show ring. In this process, of course, all the dogs do not have what it takes to excel in the show ring, but they do pride themselves in breeding dogs with great temperaments that are wonderful companion animals.
